About the Event
Join us at the Dickson Williams Mansion for an evening with E.J. Swatsell and the Potters of Greene County in the second installment of the Mansion's 3rd Thursday series. Discover how local pottery traditions connect to the history, daily life and commerce that once surrounded the historic Dickson-Williams Mansion. E.J. Swatsell is a native of Greene County, a lover of history, and is considered by many as the authority on all things material culture related to the county. His presentation will focus on and present examples of Harmon Pottery, as well as other regional potters. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Milligan University and most recently was awarded a Master of Arts Degree in Appalachian Studies from East Tennessee State University, where his thesis project focused on Harmon Pottery. The event will include light refreshments along with acoustic melodies from local artists. Seating is limited.
